A Functional Family abides by a Social Contract

A family, to be functional, abides by a social contract. By virtue of this contract, if they are functional, they treat each other with a heightened measure of diligence, supportiveness, and respect, similar on certain levels to the fiduciary responsibility that exists between partners, agents and their principals, and other special relationships. This social contract involves shared obligations and duties to be supportive of each other's interests in certain essential social principles.
