Not every moment of interpersonal discomfort or inconvenience qualifies for use of the grey ribbon or the grey ribbon techniques. Some curve balls should be allowed to go by unaddressed. Deciding which to let go by and which to address is an important consideration.
Unfortunate moments in human interactions that are not truly representative of what someone actually thinks or how they feel towards you might be given a pass. Patterns of disrespectful judgment or treatment revealed in otherwise seemingly benign statements might require a closer look.
When a clear pattern of disrespect, duplicitous or two faced dealings, back stabbing, or manipulation emerges, it needs to be managed effectively.
